The CavinKare Group decided to venture into ‘personal styling and beauty solutions’ business. With an objective to be affordable for the common man, CavinKare entrusted responsibilities to Mr Gopalakrishnan (the current General Manager) to conduct a feasibility test for the salon. 1st salon was setup at Kilpauk, Chennai in May. It was named Greeny & was a men’s only salon. In April, another salon was launched in T- nagar, Chennai, this time it was an ‘All Women’ salon. Same year in July, a family salon was opened at Anna Nagar.After a feasibility test, it was discovered that a family salon concept was the way forward. This triggered the 1st organized salon concept in India, thus Green Trends came into existence. One more store was opened at Kodambakkam the same year. This was the year of expansion. Green Trends opened 5 outlets in Chennai. An academy to groom & train young personal styling & beauty professionals was started, it was called, Trends Academy.
